Updated: Jun 26, 2023

Southern Ontario has a wide variety of mountain bike trails you should plan to check out!

Our Ride Out Series aims to bring the community together by meeting monthly at a new location. While fundraising to support those that work hard to make our trail systems fun and accessible for all, our goal is to introduce riders to the variety of trails that we are fortunate to have across Southern Ontario.

If you're looking to plan a day or weekend trip to check out somewhere new, we suggest checking out some of the locations we've explored below or joining us at an upcoming Ride Out.

Jefferson Forest - Richmond Hill

Nestled just a short drive north of Toronto in Richmond Hill, Jefferson Forest is a hidden gem of trails maintained by the York Mountain Bike Association (YMBA). Notorious for being tricky to navigate, our 2022 Ride Out raised $600 to help the YMBA purchase more signage to make the trails easier to navigate!

Jefferson boasts a mixture of cross-country single track and some all-mountain/downhill jumps over ~25 km of trail. The YMBA is actively in there weekly building and maintaining new trails.

Copeland Forest - Oro Medonte

Located in the rolling hills of Horseshoe Valley, Copeland Forest features some of the best technical riding in the area. You will be rewarded with high-speed fun, and flowing descents if you have the right guide and are willing to earn your turns. Bonus point! Horseshoe Bike Park is across the road, so pack an overnight bag and hit the bike park on day 2.

Millbrook Valley - Millbrook

Just ninety minutes northeast of Toronto, Millbrook Valley is home to a hidden gem of trails. Albeit a smaller trail system, they make up for what they lack in the distance with features, flow and endless fun. If you want to double up on distance, it is also a short pedal to connect to Ganaraska Forest.

Don Valley - Toronto

The Don Valley is a second home for us. Located in the heart of Toronto, the Don offers a wide assortment of trail opportunities. With trails ranging from wide-open single track to flowy ravine-wall trails to tight man-made features and obstacles, the Don has something for every level of mountain biker. Just be sure to give it a bit of time after rain.

**Note: Some trails are rated with a higher degree of difficulty due to high exposure level/consequence-of-failure.**

If you need any bike parts or supplies, be sure to drop by Bateman's Bike Co Trail Shop, just a short pedal away!

We host our Ride Outs monthly at new locations if you're keen to check out somewhere new.

For 2023, we head to;

  • The Hydrocut Cut (Kitchener)- May 20

  • Batawa Ski Hill (Batawa) - July 1

  • Don Valley (Toronto) - Sept 2

  • Annual Halloween Night Ride (Trail Hub/Durham Forest) - Oct 28
